The Shield

The second symbol is Leonidas's and the Spartans' shield. They use these shields to hold the Phalanx,
or group of soldiers interlocked to form a barrier. The shields represent the unity and strength in cooperation
that the Spartans need in order to destroy their unorganized yet formidable Persian enemies. The shields
hold them together and help Leonidas to protect himself and others from the thousands of arrows and troops
constantly attacking them.
